Evidence Post #1 - Revisiting MacNeill POWER
As a school, as we are continuing to grow and increase our diversity, we are seeing the need for the school community to revisit MacNeill POWER with our staff, students, and parents. We started by first asking our staff to look at how they use this within the school, classroom, and extracurricular areas. We then asked them if there were different ways to achieve the same goals that this Positive Behaviour Interventions and Supports word offers. We had this conversation in our November staff meeting. This sparked some interested from staff surrounding them looking at ways that this is being achieved by our students in the school in classes, clubs extracurricular and free time before, at lunch and after school.
It was continued later in the year around the idea of school culture and what staff wanted to see be different in the school. Suggestions about how to make more positive experiences came forward such as:
- Intramurals.
- Club activities in the lounge or other spaces.
- Alternative opportunities for discussing in the beginning of next school year.
