Daily Announcement

Friday October 3

On behalf of the Recreational Leadership class, we would like to thank everyone for their generous donations towards our fundraising efforts for the Terry Fox Foundation. With the support of our school and broader community, we surpassed our goal and raised a total of $2540.60 this year! Great job, Ravens! Congratulations to Mr. Sandhu's Grade 10 Advisory for raising the most money and winning a pizza party! Stay tuned for our upcoming follow up events to celebrate reaching our goals. We start with the wheel of unfortunates spin and a judo face off between Mr. B Chiang & Mr.F Chiang today at lunch in the lounge!!

Hey Ravens! The MacNeill Dance Club is back and groovier than ever! Open to all grades and dance abilities, the dance club is the perfect space to express yourself through movement, build confidence, and connect with others who share a similar love for dance.  We will be meeting for workshops led by MacNeill alumni on Monday and Wednesday in the Dance Room, from 3:15-5:00.  Whether you are new to dance and curious about dancing, or have taken dance classes before, everyone is welcome to move, groove, and have fun!  Bring a friend!  We hope to see you next on Monday & Wednesday at 3:15!

Your senior boys soccer team strikes again with a huge bounce back win against Hugh Boyd. After lots of possession, Kerem scored his first goal of the season after hounding the opposition defence who couldn’t keep up with his dogged determination. Star forward Roko Van Dijk (Van Dike) and Lucas Benetos built a Great Wall to keep opposing forwards at bay for almost the entire match before a late equalizer made for an exciting finish.  When all hope seemed lost, the clouds parted, and Buyka Gen-Erdene emerged to save the day, blasting home the game winner into the bottom right corner. Although it was only a 2-1 victory, with the amount of offense on both teams, it easily could’ve ended 6-7!

MacNeill is looking for Gr 10s, 11s and 12s, to become student mentors for our new international students.  The mentorship program is a 6-7 week commitment.  You'll make connections with international students at the school and you can earn volunteer hours for CLC or scholarship applications.  To sign up, look for the Student Mentor poster in the Counselling Center and in the Lounge and scan the QR code.  If you want more information, ask Ms. MacLeod.
