Dear MacNeill Families

Congratulations on your child graduating from MacNeill Secondary! We look forward to cerebrating with you at Valedictory on Tuesday, June 9, at 7pm, at the Chan Centre at UBC.

In preparing for this special day, I’ve outlined some information that you and your graduate will need ahead of the valedictory.

Graduates will participate in a Valedictory rehearsal in Macneill’s small gym during period 1-3, Advisory and 1-4 on Friday, June 5. They will practice the processional and receive the grad gown package. Important instructions will be reviewed and all graduates must attend! Please email Ms. MacDonald (damacdonald@sd38.bc.ca) if there is a conflict.

The valedictory ceremony will take place at the UBC Chan Centre for the Performing Arts located at 6265 Crescent Road, Vancouver, BC, V6T 1Z1. The ceremony starts at 7pm. Traffic and parking can be difficult, and you are urged to arrive early. The Rose Garden Parkade is closest to the Chan Centre if you are driving. Please arrive early or by 5:30pm. Graduates will be required inside to prepare for the processional at 6pm dressed in the grad gown. Guests will be let into the Chan Centre by ticket ONLY at 6pm. If you would like pictures ahead of the ceremony, the Rose Garden outside the Chan Centre is ideal, but please arrive early to allow time for this. Here is a link to directions to the Chan Centre and parking: https://chancentre.com/directions/

This year, UBC Chan Centre is offering all graduation ceremonies flowers available for sale on-site outside the main entrance for guests to purchase for their graduates. The flower booth will be open 90 minutes prior to the ceremony and 30 minutes after the ceremony. A pre-order link is available here: www.thecommencementgroup.com/chancentregrads Customers can browse products on the website and make a purchase to be conveniently picked up at graduation. This vendor is cashless; payment is available by debit and credit. This vendor has no affiliation with MacNeill Secondary.
