SFU Key Deadlines for Admission and Scholarships
There are several important application deadlines coming up for admission and scholarships:
The Fall 2025 Application Deadline – January 31, 2025: The deadline to apply for Fall 2025 admission is quickly approaching. Encourage your students to submit their applications early! All the details about how to apply are available the SFU website http://www.sfu.ca/admission
Undergraduate Scholars Entrance Scholarships (USES) – December 15, 2024: These prestigious scholarships are open to both domestic and international students who demonstrate academic excellence and leadership potential. Uggla Family Scholarship – January 20, 2025: This full-coverage scholarship is available for exceptional Canadian students. It covers tuition, housing, materials, and includes a mentorship program to guide students throughout their studies. *Reminder: New Admission Update for BC High School Students
Starting in Spring 2025, students no longer need to complete a Language 11 course to meet SFU’s admission requirements. For more details, please visit our updated admissions page.
Helping students with their applications: To support students, SFU is offering virtual applicant workshops throughout January 2025. These sessions are an excellent chance for students to:
- Connect with SFU’s undergraduate admissions team
- Receive practical tips on completing their applications
- Participate in live Q&A sessions
For BC students, we’ll also provide a self-reporting demo to ensure they submit their grades correctly. Encourage your students to attend these sessions. They can register on our Admissions Events page: https://www.sfu.ca/students/admission/tours-events.html
It’s also helpful to advise students to list an alternate faculty or program choice in their application when applying in EducationPlannerBC. Adding an alternate choice increases their chances of receiving an offer to SFU, especially if their first choice is competitive. Please let them know that their alternate choice needs to be in a different faculty than their first choice. Note: If students are applying to the Beedie School of Business, it must be their first choice for consideration.
Students can explore the SFU campus in-person or online
SFU recently launched an exciting virtual campus tour that gives students and their families a chance to explore all that the university has to offer! This immersive tour takes them through SFU’s three campuses – Burnaby, Surrey, and Vancouver – showcasing not just academic facilities but also student life, local communities, and the vibrant spaces where students connect, study, and relax. It's a great tool to help students get a feel for daily life at SFU and discover the amazing resources and opportunities available to them. You can experience our virtual tour for yourself here.
SFU also offers live, guided virtual tours, where students can connect directly with one of our student ambassadors. Please let your students know they can register for either a guided virtual tour or an in-person by visiting our tour booking page.
