Friday October 13

Clubs Day is happening today in the large gym at lunch. There is no food or drink allowed in the gym. Finish your food/drinks and come check out the different clubs booth that you could join!

 

Calling all debaters! Model UN club is having a meeting on Monday in Ms. Datoo's room, 136. Join us during lunch on Monday to participate in a mini debate!

 

Attention Grade 11 and 12’s!  Next Tuesday Morning, Oct 17, on Collaboration day, it is also our BC Post-Secondary Mini Fair Day in our Lounge.  There will be 13 BC Post Secondary Schools that will set up booths and be available to talk to you about their programs and admissions.

 Grade 12’s are invited to the Lounge to attend from 8:40 to 9:10

Grade 11’s are invited to the Lounge to attend from 9:15 to 9:45

Come with you questions ready!

 

Attention Grade 10-12’s! The University of Alberta is coming to visit MacNeill on Tuesday during lunchtime in the Library at 1:12.  Bring your lunch and come listen to the exciting learning opportunities that are available at U of A. See you there!

 

Hey, grade 8 and 9 girls, are you looking for a fun, free activity on October 20 during your Pro-D Day?! Join us for GO Day 2023 at Thompson Community Centre. Grab a friend or get ready to make some new ones at this healthy, active lifestyle program for girls* in grade 7, 8 and 9 – all for free!

Participate in activities like Volleyball, Snack Attack or a fitness class called “Barbie the Album” and much, much more! Lunch will be provided for all those registered.

Wednesday October 11

This is a reminder Vancouver Coastal Health will be onsite to administer the Grade 9 Immunization Clinic on Monday October 16. Please hand in your Immunization Consent forms in the office by tomorrow morning.

 

All student leaders of any approved club at MacNeill are asked to meet with Mr. Byres on Tuesday October 17th at Lunch time, please be prompt.

Meet in the Ravens Nest – Room 210 (above the library)

 

Any grade 10 boys interested in playing basketball this year, please come to a meeting Thursday at lunch in room 265.

 

Language Challenge Exam applications are now open.  Students will apply for the Challenge Exams on line but first, you need to talk to your counsellor to check that you are eligible.  You must be able to show that you can read, write and speak one of the challenge exam languages at a Gr 9/10 level.  Also, you need to check that you have not already received transfer credit for the language.  Please talk to your counsellor to check eligibility and get information about the application process.  The deadline for admissions is November 3rd.

Students can write an exam for: 

• French, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin (traditional & simplified characters), Punjabi, Spanish and Farsi 11 & 12 is new this year
