Summer Connections 2023

8-day program

Dear parents/guardians,

Your child is invited to participate in Summer Connections 2023 at A. R. MacNeill Secondary. This is an 8-day program that has been custom designed for Grade 7 students who will be attending MacNeill Secondary school in September 2023 and will be taught by MacNeill Secondary teachers.  There is no cost to this program.

When:   Tuesday August 22 to Thursday 31

             (8 days)

Time:               9:00am-2:00pm

Where:             A.R. MacNeill Secondary

Academic & Learning and Social-Emotional Support Activities:

May include but limited to:

·          Introduction to Grade 8 Numeracy and Literacy

·          Introduction to BC Core Competencies (Critical Thinking, Communication, Personal and Social) *see below*

·          Introduction Activities & Building Community

·          School Tours

·          Games and Physical Activities in the Gym

·          Drama and Dance Games

·          Art, Math, and Science Activities

·          Study Skills -Note Taking

·          Introduction to Office & Support Staff

·          A. R. MacNeill’s P.O.W.E.R.

·          Social Emotional Learning Activities

·          Physical health and mental well being

·          Activities with Leadership students from MacNeill

*Activities subject to change.

Health and Safety Protocols will be followed at all times, including frequent hand washing,

enhanced cleaning and a daily declaration by students/parents/guardians and staff.

Participation in the program is open only to students attending A. R. MacNeill Secondary School

in September 2023.

STEPS TO APPLY FOR SUMMER CONNECTIONS 2023

Step 1: Complete the attached registration form.

Step 2: Submit the completed registration form to MacNeill Secondary School or send it electronically to macneill@sd38.bc.ca

Please bring a packed lunch and a healthy snack, sunscreen, water, notebook, pencil/pen.
