Evidence Post #2

Students began their research looking for just the right Coast Salish design and worked to graph the shapes with  mathematical expressions.

Student reflections were integral to this assignment.  A common reflection from the students acknowledged their interest in traditional teachings and understandings.

Not only were students asked to open their minds to a new way to look at Mathematics, they accessed a variety of Indigenous teachings.

Students came away from this experience with a depth of appreciation and understanding that reflected the rich detail found when looking to better understand Indigenous Understandings related to mathematics.  Students also experienced many of the First People's Principles of Learning.
