MUSIC: Music 8 (Band)

Course Description

Building on the work from elementary band programs, students will grow their skills and knowledge to gain access to other courses offered in the Music Department. A varied level band class that runs before the regular scheduled school day. Repertoire is chosen according to ability levels of students as well as course goals. Skills will be addressed by working on scales, technique exercises, individual instrument study, and solo repertoire. Students will continue their studies in music theory, history, and appreciation. All instruments including strings and piano are welcome. Participation in concerts, field trips, and extra-curricular rehearsals are integral to the course. This course is important to ensure success in future music courses at MacNeill.

**Please note that this course will be offered every second day BEFORE school at 7:30am and is not to be confused with the Music Introduction 8 course offered within the Grade 8 Elective Wheel.
