HS: Career Life Education 10: This course is REQUIRED FOR GRADUATION

Course Description

Career Life Education (CLE) replaces Planning 10. It is a mandatory 4-credit course required for Graduation. It focuses on personal development, deepening connections to the community, and creating career life plans. Students may take this course in Grade 10, 11 or 12.

The aim of CLE is to prepare students to become lifelong learners who: are self-directed and responsible; can prioritize and set goals; display initiative, and adapt to change.

Through self-assessments, individual and collaborative projects, guest speakers, and experiential learning activities students will explore career and education options, develop financial literacy skills, learn about work place safety and behaviour, consider essential career/employability skills, think critically about healthy life choices, become aware of how the global economy affects their personal, social, and economic lives and future choices, aim to find a balance between work and personal life, and create a network of family, friends, and community members who can support them in their educational, financial, career and life choices.

The course is designed to prepare students to successfully complete Career Life Connections.
